Here's some news for you

Well I have been on the RSS and I am now informed (although I have to say I could have lived without the mean attack on the movie "Australia" that I read along my travels). I think its very interesting and helpful to have news all in the one spot, I can honestly say I have never heard of it before but now am very interested. Am looking forward to spending more time in this area, definatley one of the more enjoyable websites I have been on.

Ahh - Technology

This topic could keep me going all day. Do we debate the benefits of technology, about where it is going in the future? Is it a good thing or could we end up in a society tht has no privacy or communication? What happened to old fashion lifestyles?
I guess the point of this blog is more to discuss a paricular item of technology as apposed to the big picture but I guess this could be where this all leads to. The bit of technology I find particually interesting (apart from the electric blanket which is a gift straight from heaven and I believe an essential item in any household) is the phone. Probably because although I get up in arms about technology and whether it is truely essential and the fact that none of my things are modern about 2 minutes after I buy them, I couldnt be without my phone. I am one of those people that can barely work a lot of the functions on my phone but the fact that when I was a child (and I am not that old) a phone that you could carry around with you was something of fiction. Then you would see a cordless phone that you could carry with you around the house was a great advancement. These days we would call it a clunker. I find it fascinating
These days we get mad when our phone wont work in any area within Australia. To not have a camera and web surfing options in your mobile makes your phone "old". Many people have multiple phones. And they have there life programmed into it. They can stand in the supermarket and ask people at home what dip to bring to the party. How can we not find the advancements of the phone one of the most interesting in modern time? Am I alone in this?

Who am I really??

I ask this as I have just been playing with "fd's flicker toys", a third party attachment to flickr. Dont ask me why, but I liked it - ALOT. May have something to do with the fact I have now made a press pass for everyone in my family lol. Look for us at the logies lol. But I liked the idea that flickr has encouraged other people to play around with there photos rather than just store them on the computer. Also good for stickybeaks like me that like to see other peoples photos.
Will work on publishing my press pass on my blog for a later date.

My friend Flickr

My initial thoughts on flickr...hmmm. I love it!!! I guess on a personal level I am somewhat put off considering putting my own pictures on it, as all of those photos are so great and clever and I can assure you my happy snaps never look anything like that, but I love the idea of having this space that people can post there pictures and share them. I personally am always facinated by what people define and share as "special pictures" and comparing them all in that sense. There were some that just cracked me up, some that had more editing and special effects than Michael Jackson has had surgeries and some that I am not sure what the point was but I still liked them. The diversity of subject was also great and people had done amazing things with the most unlikely items to produce great shots. There was one picture with a baby toy that I got totally inspired to take shots of all my childs fisher price gear when I got home. The photo I picked (when you see it - pardon the pun) appealed to me as it seemed very natural and had that "kids do the darnest things" feel to it. But I could have chosen many others. I hope my link to it worked but if not click in the red cross box and it should connect you to the photo.

EEEEEKKKKK - it's happened. Look out world, I am now a blogger. I am still a bit nervous, I consider myself fairly anti-nerd and this somewhat crosses over into "nerd territory" (thats what I keep telling my husband anyway) but what can I say? Its a moving world and you either need to keep up or get out of the way. So here I am. I am excited about learning how to do some of this stuff, especially as I would love to be able to understand things that are considered reasonably normal at the moment, such as downloading photos and songs and stuff. I am sure I can figure it out, guess this will be proof now wont it?? Wish me luck :)
